New Skills

That time of life. When you can no longer hit the loose scrums at walking pace.
When you’ve dropped your hundredth catch. When work is a job and you’d rather be in Philadelphia.
Going back to college was not exactly new (see college). Riding a bike was a new form of exercise, but still exercise (see suffering).
You have a go at a few things, and some of it sticks. Writing is now part of a daily routine. Singing is in the week’s structure. For 14 years we cruised on the narrow boat, Sapphire, 3-4 times a year. Dry-stone walling has had its time and I did build two walls. Editing and publishing books as a social enterprise is the latest preoccupation (see shallileybooks.org).
